When you get a call for interview, make sure you are ready for it. Goin into an interview without fully prepared is a big mistake. Here are some suggestions.

1) Review your Resume : Your resume is like your exam paper that your employer will study to call you for an interview. He must have looked something which he may have thought you have to call you for interview. Mark the points that you may think will interest your employer.

2) Research your employer, You should know the background, the portfolio of the employer but the most important thing is that which post your employer wants to interview you for. Your resume highlights plus the post you will be interviewed for gives you one good direction about what your interview is going to be like.

3) What others are saying about your potential employer, Use internet to find out what other people are saying about your employer, use google, facebook, myspace to find that info. it can really help you find if the employer has a history of delayed salaries, late sitting, weekend work, etc. if you find anything note it down that you may ask your employer at the end of interview.

4) Come up with some questions that could be asked, Try to find out what questions the employer could be asking during the interview. If you are a programmer/ Software developer you could be sure to have questions abuot Java, .Net, Oracle, SAP or graphics as per your experience. Make a list of those questions and memorize them well. here are some good links to find some programming related interview questions that may help you succeed an interview.

i) Windows Presentation Foundation FAQs -> Windows Presentation Foundation FAQs and Interview Questions

5) The night before the interview, after you have crafted your pitch and researched the employer, make sure to print out directions to the office. Pick out your clothes, relax with a book and get to bed early. In the morning, eat a non-offensive breakfast to hold you over and make sure to drink your coffee.

6) Never get late reaching for an interview. this could be the worst thing that could happen.

7) Be relaxed and remember to be aware of negative body gestures such as crossing your arms which signals, closed (not open), or tapping a pen or fumbling with something. It’s your hour or so to shine

8) After the interview is done, one very important thing that most people do not do is, write down ALL the questions immediately that were asked to you. Believe me this can help you more than anything. this will help you prepare for future interviews, or when you are in a position to take interviews yourself and help your friend who may have an interview for similar post in same company.
